Go1 Product Review
Overview
Created in 2015, Go1 has skyrocketed from a humble start in a Queensland garage to become the world’s largest online learning library. Driven by their goal to reach 1 billion learners, Go1 is a Learning Management System (LMS) averaging 50,000 hours of learning across their extensive customer base every day.
Since engaging with Go1 in July 2024, MAP’s entire team has had the opportunity to explore the extensive learning opportunities presented by the platform. This month, we review the Key Features that help to make Go1 a world leader, along with some strengths and challenges we have encountered.
Key Features
Content items. Hosting over 80,000 courses, Go1 has a range of content that spans more than 7,000 skill areas. Including soft skills, technical skills and topics on compliance, members can access items specific to their learning needs – or areas of interest.
Subscription model. Go1’s subscription model allows for unlimited access to content for the approved number of users within an organisation.
Assigning. Members don’t have to wait for a supervisor to assign them courses – every person has access to self-assign learning, giving them control and greater choice over their development. Go1 also allows appointed people to assign training to their teams, ensuring consistency across groups. Due dates for completion can also be implemented when training is assigned.
Create your own content. Through the “My Teaching” function, Go1 allows members to create their own learning and training materials. This empowers proactive companies to develop their own courses and conveniently deploy them to team members via a single LMS.
Strengths
Integration. Go1 is integrated with MAP’s Employee Management System, Employment Hero, which we reviewed in September 2024. Boasting a “seamless” integration system, having access to Go1 via Employment Hero supports ease of use and greater engagement with team members able to access their learning without juggling multiple platforms.
Customisable. With “Theme” and customisation settings, Go1 allows members to add their own branding to the platform, allowing for a tailored experience.
Diversity. Supporting learning globally, Go1 offers courses in over 40 languages and different formats, with a range of topics to suit every industry. A benefit of Go1’s model is that every member of an organisation can access the entire library to expand knowledge in areas of interest that may be outside their industry, supporting personal as well as professional development.
Challenges
Accreditation. As Go1’s courses are non-accredited, some courses mandatory to the care sector and disability industry still require completion with accredited providers. Key amongst these in our sector are Medication Administration and First Aid. These courses present a significant cost and offer less flexibility of times to access the training.
Expired content. Content may be retired and removed from Go1’s system. This can lead to a periodic need to source new training items and can present a barrier to consistent training.
Summary
Boasting further features to those mentioned here, Go1 is a dynamic and expansive LMS offering opportunities to businesses to maintain their training requirements and promote individual chances for greater learning with flexibility of times to complete courses.
While some mandatory training still needs to be conducted elsewhere, Go1 offers consistent learning to an entire team while also promoting proactive education choices for individuals. As Go1 continues striving towards their goal to reach 1 billion learners, the opportunities offered by their model are also expected to expand.
