A day in the life of a Support Worker

86-1

Striving to achieve Goals

A day in the life of a support worker is a ‘mixed bag’, it can be fast-paced, diverse, and challenging, but when we’re making a difference to someone’s life, there is nothing more rewarding.

There are many different aspects of support that we carry out on a day-to-day basis. We strive to support people with disability to achieve their goals by developing their skills and abilities.

Maintaining Connections

Supporting people with disability can range from providing companionship and support with daily activities like going to the movies or going to an appointment, or performing household tasks such as meal planning, cooking, cleaning, and shopping. We provide discreet support with personal care and hygiene to maintain dignity.  An important part of the support we provide is to help people with disability to maintain a connection with their family and friends.

We strive to facilitate community connections by socialising and going on outings.

Maintain Independence

A significant part of our day-to-day role is to help people with disability to maintain their independence, safety, choice and control.

A disability support worker is a proficient multi-tasker, driven by values of respect, integrity and equality, who bring their own unique personality to the role.

Laughter and Joy

No two days are ever the same, they are mostly filled with laughter and joy, and that is one of the many reasons why we love what we do.
